Lions Catch Another Receiver

Allen Robinson

Allen Robinson, Rob Bolden's high school teammate, committed to Penn State Monday evening.

Allen Robinson committed to the Penn State football team Monday evening. He announced it on his Facebook page and later confirmed to Scout.com's Allen Trieu

A 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver from St. Mary Prep in Orchard Lake, Mich., Robinson is the seventh member of the Nittany Lions' Class of 2011. He is the second receiver to commit to PSU in the last three days, joining Matt Zanellato out of Virginia.

Robinson also plays safety in high school and some experts believe that will be his best position in college. He is from the same program that produced current Nittany Lion freshman quarterback Rob Bolden.

Robinson's other offers were from Minnesota, Bowling Green, Buffalo and Toledo. HREF=http://michiganstate.scout.com/>Michigan State was said to be keeping a close eye on him, too.

As a high school freshman, Robinson was 5-7, 125 pounds. He skipped his sophomore season due to a back injury. By his junior season, though, he had sprouted up to his current size, and when college scouts came to look at Bolden, they could not help by notice Robinson, too.
