Penn State Lands Smith

Donovan Smith picks PSU.

Donovan Smith announced at Saturday's US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio that he will take his talents to Happy Valley.

Donovan Smith, a four-star offensive tackle from Owings Mills (Md), was featured in Saturday's US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. Smith announced he will become a Nittany Lion, joining the Class of 2011.

Smith chose PSU over UCLA and NC State, and eliminated Maryland, Michigan State and Syracuse in late December.

The 6-foot-7, 280-pound prospect talked about Penn State with Scout.com in recent weeks, saying, "The coaching situation there doesn't bother me regardless if he (Coach Joe Paterno) leaves or not. It is such a high-powered program I don't think they will change that much. Plus, I am not there 100% for football - I am also there for academics."
