Lynch Looking at Lions

N.Y. RB Akeel Lynch made a name for himself at the Penn State Rising Senior Camp with an impressive performance. Fight On State talked to him about his experience and his looming college decision.

St. Francis HS standout RB Akeel Lynch already has six offers under his belt, and is searching for at least one more -- from the Lions.

"I went for the one day Senior Camp," Lynch said. "And I had a real good time."

He continued, "They pulled me aside and had me do a couple drills, and told me that I would hear from them after five P.M. Wednesday to see if i have an offer."

An offer from Penn State would be something that the Toronto, Ontario native has been looking forward to since he was in fifth grade.

"I like Penn State," Lynch said. "It was one of my dream schools when I was growing up."

But why did Lynch like the Lions so much?

"When I was in fifth grade, my mom went to Pennsylvania to go shopping," Lynch said. "I stayed home, and she came home with a Penn State jacket."

He added, "I didn't even know what Penn State was but I liked the jacket."

The best part? "About the same time I started playing football and Penn State was kinda the school that I started watching and learning from," Lynch said.

And now, things have come full circle, because Lynch is getting plenty of interest from the school he grew up following.

It all started with a short visit earlier this year.

"I actually came up for a visit in April," Lynch said. "It was only for an hour, but I got to see Penn State, and it was pretty mind-blowing."

Then the staff began to notice the St. Francis HS standout, and Coach McQueary invited him to come down for Friday's camp session.

And as for a timeline on his commitment, Lynch is still open to the process.

"Probably this summer I am going to commit to a school," Lynch said. "And I haven't named a top three or five, I am still waiting to see what offers i can get."

Basically, "I am going to wait and see about Penn State, then evaluate my options," Lynch said.
