Rob Bolden did not compete in the Lift for Life charity event on Friday and was not in main media interview area with other players. However, Fight On State's Mark Brennan caught up the sophomore quarterback, who was wandering among the Penn State fans at the event.
After months of indicating he had not decided on whether to stay or leave Happy Valley, Bolden is finally set on his decision.
Asked about his situation with PSU currently, Bolden replied, "Everything's cool. … I am just here top compete [at Penn State]."
Bolden had discussed a potential transfer from the Nittany Lions program earlier this year, which Joe Paterno initially denied, convincing the QB to wait until the spring practice period was over to make a decision.
Bolden did not enroll at PSU for the first summer semester but was back in class for the second semester.
In terms of where his head is related to Penn State, Bolden appears determined and is at least saying the right things. "I am coming in focused and going to do everything I need to do in terms of getting the No. 1 [quarterback] job," Bolden explained.
As for why he opted to stay at PSU? "I wasn't promised (anything)," he said. "They didn't tell me 'you're going to be No. 1' or any of that stuff."
In 2010 Bolden wound up completing 112 of 193 passes on the season (58 percent) for 1,360 yards and five touchdowns. He was intercepted seven times.
