O'Connor Nabs Big Honor

Offensive lineman Joey O'Connor talks to Fight On State about a big honor he recently received, his summer and his thoughts on the NittanyLions.

Just three weeks ago, Windsor (Colo.) HS OL Joey O'Connor made the big decision to commit to Penn State.

Fast forward to last Wednesday, and the telephone rang with more big news -- an invite to the Under Armour All-American game in January.

"They called me to tell me," O'Connor said. "I am really excited, but it hasn't completely hit me yet. It's gonna be pretty cool."

And another thing the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder is excited about? Representing the Lions.

"Well, I know I have to present myself the same way I do now," O'Connor said. "Which is the same way that Penn State would want me to. By being a class act, playing my hardest and working hard no matter what."

His decision to commit is still fairly new, but there is no doubt in O'Connor's mind that PSU is the place for him.

"It's been nice to know where I'm going," O'Connor said. "It's a huge relief, and I know I have made the right choice."

And as for the rest of his summer, O'Connor hopes it continues to go like the first half.

"My summer has been good so far," O'Connor said. "Just working out and spending time with my family."
