Redd Edges Past OL for POG Honor

Silas Redd

Silas Redd eeked out his second Player of the Game honor of the season in one of the closest votes in the seven year history of the award.

Penn State running back Silas Redd barely got past his offensive line for the Player of the Iowa Game honor from Nittany Lion fans.

Redd's 26 carries for 142 yards (5.1 YPC) and two catches for eight yards were enough to earn him the second nod of the season for the player award. His first was against Indiana State to open the 2011 season.

Redd ended up with 41 percent of the fan votes, while his offensive line grabbed 40 percent of the tally.

Here are some of the fan comments for the performance of both Redd and the offensive line:

"Redd was a monster out there."

"I was thinking Silas Redd all the way.... but without the good OL working hard he might not have had the day he did, so with that I have to give credit to the guys in the trenches."

"Pretty much agree with the others that Redd had as good a day as he did because of the holes generated by the OL."

"This was a tough call between the OL and Silas Redd but I opted for the OL."
