Our images from a somber day in Happy Valley, as the public paid respects to Penn State's Hall of Fame football coach.

There was a public viewing for Hall of Fame Penn State football coach Joe Paterno on campus Tuesday. People lined up by the thousands for a chance to pay their last respects.

The Paterno family asked that the media to be a part of the event, giving access inside the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center as the close-casket viewing was taking place.
