Scout five-star tight end Adam Breneman announced his collegiate choice today, selecting the Nittany Lions over Ohio State, Notre Dame and Maryland.

CAMP HILL, Pa.; As offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots, new Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien helped make stars out of young tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

The fact obviously was not lost on Adam Breneman.

The five-star prospect and No. 1-ranked tight end committed to the Nittany Lions Friday. He did so during a press conference at his high school — Cedar Cliff in Camp Hill, Pa. — to a roar from the Penn State fans in attendance.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder holds dozens of offers from programs across the country. He picked the Nittany Lions from a final four that also included Ohio State, Maryland and Notre Dame.

Breneman was a Pennsylvania Sports Writers first-team AAAA All-State pick as a junior.

In 2011, he had 72 catches for 1,120 yards and 12 touchdowns. In his career to date he has 142 catches for 2,244 yards and 22 scores.

He is the fourth public commitment for O'Brien first full recruiting class, joining four-star Virginia quarterback Christian Hackenberg, Ohio defensive back Ross Douglas and New Jersey defensive end Garrett Sickels.

Stay tuned for more coverage on Breneman's commitment.
