Another Commit Blows PSU's Way

Defensive end Cothran picks the Nittany Lions shortly after receiving a scholarship offer from them. He called Bill O'Brien with the news Monday after Penn State's practice.

Defensive end Curtis Cothran of Council Rock North in Newtown, Pa., received an offer from Penn State during a weekend visit.

Monday, he committed to the Nittany Lions, according to Fight On State's Cory James and Scout.com's Brian Dohn.

Cothran called PSU coach Bill O'Brien with the news after the Nittany Lions' Monday practice — the first session of the spring. It was a cold, windy day in Happy Valley.

"I just committed to Penn State," Cothran texted James. "I went up to Penn State, met with Coach O'Brien, Coach (Ted) Roof and Coach (Larry) Johnson, and Coach O'Brien gave me the offer so I was real excited.

"Then today I just gave Coach O'Brien a call and committed," he added. "They were real excited. I guess they had a rough practice standing around in 40 mph winds so that was some good news after standing outside in the cold all day."

He is the sixth member of Penn State's Class of 2013.
