Lions Back in the Sunshine State
Posted Jun 4, 2012

Safety Neiko Robinson is the first Florida prospect to commit to Penn State in more than a decade. According to his coach, PSU was one of Robinson's "dream schools."

New Penn State football coach Bill O'Brien has talked about expanding the program's recruiting territory. The Nittany Lions are already reaping the benefits of that approach.

When safety Neiko Robinson committed to Penn State recently, he became the first Florida prospect to do so in more than a decade. The last Sunshine State athlete to sign a Letter of Intent with the Nittany Lions was offensive lineman John Wilson in 2001.

Robinson, who will attend Northview High in Century, Fla., next season, is most definitely an under-the-radar prospects. In 2011, he played at Flomaton (Ala.) High, which is extremely close to the Alabama/Florida border.

Flomaton and Century are less than five miles apart.

"He committed to Penn State late last night," Northview coach Sid Wheatley said. "I think it is very exciting for him. He says it is one of his dream schools."

Stay tuned for more.
