ESPN U aired the Elite 11 Selection Show on Thursday evening, which featured a roundtable discussion between Elite 11 QB Coach Trent Dilfer, Elite 11 Director Brian Stumpf and Elite 11 QB Coach Matt James.
The trio made the final 12 open spots for the Elite 11 event. Penn State Class of 2013 commit Christian Hackenberg was the first discussed prospect when reviewing the top quarterbacks they thought deserved to be invited to the event.
According to Brian Stumpf, "He's great on camera; great arm talent. He's a top three or four guy for me."
"Top three for sure. Footwork, decision making. Quick, on-time, accurate," as Matt James explained.
To which Trent Dilfer responded, "Christian's a kid that you build your program around. Your program is better day one [when] he steps on campus."
Hackenberg ended up being the groups first at-large, unanimous selection for the July event in Southern California.
