It's been a tough season for Penn State kicker Sam Ficken.
Thrust into the starting job for the first time when 2011 starter Anthony Fera transferred to Texas, Ficken made only one of his first five field-goal attempts. That included four misses — including the potential game-winner — in a one-point loss at Virginia.
Prior to facing Temple at Beaver Stadium Saturday, Ficken had also missed one extra point and had another blocked.
But he had a perfect day against the Owls, making his only field goal try (a 21-yarder) and all three of his extra points in a 24-13 victory.
Afterward, the sophomore met the media for the first time since the season began. See what he had to sat about the Virginia game, his state of mind and much more.
