Coming off a season in which many wondered if it would even be competitive in the Big Ten, Penn State posted a 6-2 conference record and finished second in the Leaders Division.
The Nittany Lions — all of whom were eligible to transfer out of the program when NCAA sanctions hit in July — grabbed many of the Big Ten awards announced Monday.
Linebacker Michael Mauti was named the Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year. And receiver Allen Robinson was named the Richter-Hower Receiver of the Year.
Five more awards will be announced Tuesday. PSU's Bill O’Brien is in the mix for Coach of the Year.
In the meantime, here is a breakdown of the Lions who landed on the All-Big Ten teams Monday.
OFFENSE:
Robinson was named first-team by the media and coaches.
TE Kyle Carter was named first-team by the media.
C Matt Stankiewitch and OG John Urschel were name first-team by the coaches, and second-team by the media.
Honorable Mention: Carter (C), OT Mike Farrell (M/C), QB Matt McGloin (M/C), TB Zach Zwinak (M).
DEFENSE:
DT Jordan Hill was named first-team by the media and coaches.
Mauti was named first-team by the media and coaches.
LB Gerald Hodges was named second-team by the media and coaches.
Honorable Mention: CB Adrian Amos (M/C), DE Deion Barnes (M/C), CB Stephon Morris (M/C), DE Sean Stanley (M).
