Penn State coach Bill O'Brien is appreciative of all of the recognition he's received during the off-season. After leading the sanction-strapped Nittany Lions to an 8-4 record in 2012, O'Brien won several national Coach of the Year honors.
So this winter has featured one banquet after another, with O'Brien being honored and/or asked to speak. But with PSU set to kick off spring practice Monday, O'Brien is happy to get off the rubber-chicken circuit.
His last banquet for the foreseeable future was Sunday afternoon, when he addressed the Central Pennsylvania National Football Foundation at its annual shindig. Before speaking, he held a press conference where he talked about the start of spring ball, the quarterback race, leadership and much more.
"I'm extremely excited to get back out on the field and coach," O'Brien said.
