Maryland prospect Marcus Allen is the eighth member of the Nittany Lions' Class of 2014. He fills a significant position of need for PSU.

Marcus Allen, a 6-foot-2, 188-pound safety from Wise High in Upper Marlboro, Md., committed to Penn State Friday. He did so with a call to Nittany Lion head coach Bill O’Brien.

"I will become part of the Penn State family today," Allen said via text shortly before making the commitment official by calling O'Brien.

Allen is the eighth member of the Nittany Lions' Class of 2014. Safety was considered an area of need in this class, as the Lions will be losing starters Malcolm Willis and Stephen Obeng-Agyapong after the 2013 season.

A four-star prospect, Allen has offers from programs across the country, including Big Ten schools Michigan State, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
