Penn State has wasted no time moving on from the Bill O'Brien era. The day after reports surfaced that O'Brien was leaving the Nittany Lions to take over as head coach of the Houston Texans, PSU named an interim replacement.
Larry Johnson, the program's highly regarded defensive line coach, has been named to the position, according to a source close to the situation.
Johnson has been with the program since 1996 and is regarded as one of its top recruiters. He also has a reputation for developing top NFL defensive linemen, with six of his players having been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
