McSorley Honored by DC Touchdown Club

Trace McSorley

Class of 2014 member, Virginia quarterback Trace McSorley, receives a major honor from the DC Touchdown Club.

The DC Touchdown Club named Penn State Class of 2014 member Trace McSorley its Virginia High School Player of the Year. A a dual-threat quarterback, McSorley beat opponents with both his arm and legs during his career at Briar Woods.

Over the course of his high school career, he went 55-5 as the starting quarterback at Briar Woods and helped lead the Falcons to three state titles.

This past senior season he completed 179 of 290 passes for 2,690 yards, 30 touchdowns and six interceptions and also ran 94 times for 764 yards and 13 scores.

Over his career threw for 10,023 yards and 111 touchdowns and rushed for 2,066 yards and 38 touchdowns.

McSorely talked to Fight On State about coming in behind Christian Hackenberg, saying, "Me having that added dimension of being mobile is what they like. They said they like having that aspect in a quarterback, and being able to learn under him and the kind of player he is, and be underneath him for a year or two will be a great opportunity for me."
