Shoot the "Moon" for a Good Cause

Nittany Lion legend Adam Taliaferro is guest of honor at the Conlin family charity event near Philly this week.

Penn State and college football fans in the Philadelphia area have a chance to contribute to a great charity event this week.

The Mary & Joe “Moon” Conlin Golf Classic (and Pre Party) are being held in Fort Washington Thursday and Friday, and former Nittany Lion defensive back Adam Taliaferro is the special guest.

The Pre Party is at MaGerk's in Fort Washington, and kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Anyone is welcome to attend the event, where they can rub shoulders with former Penn State football players, and participate in a silent auction featuring items signed by PSU coach James Franklin, former Lion Michael Mauti, Philadelphia Eagles' All-Pro LeSean McCoy and many more.

The golf tournament is the following day and a few spots are still open. Anyone interested in golfing should contact the Conlin family at ASAP.

Mary and Joe “Moon” Conlin are the late parents of eight children, and three of their sons (Chris, Keith and Kevin) were starting offensive linemen at Penn State.

The charities in their name help pay for the educations of children who find themselves in need due to circumstances (such as the illness or the death of a parent) beyond a family's control.
