Penn State Fans Honor Ficken

Much like Saturday's season opener, the Player of the Game contest was a tight one that came down to the wire. In the end kicker Sam Ficken edged out quarterback Christian Hackenberg.

Penn State fans made the first Player of the Game vote of 2014 a tight one between Sam Ficken and Christian Hackenberg. In the end, a mere handful of votes pushed Ficken to victory.

Ficken's perfect outing, going four for four on field goals, two for two on extra points gained him 41 percent of the fan vote. Chrisitian Hackenberg's record 454 yards on 32 for 47 passing with a touchdown two interceptions and five carries for two yards grabbed him 38 percent of the votes.

Ficken's efforts also gained him Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

The FOS Player of the Game is the oldest honor for Penn State players given by Penn State fans. voting takes place exclusively on FightOnState.com after each Penn State football game.
