First Offer Arrives

Interest in RB/CB Steve Slaton from Conwell-Egan Catholic HS in Fairless Hills, PA has been increasing of late. He recently received his first written scholarship offer.

North Carolina was the first school to step up and offer the very talented Pennsylvania athlete. Steve told LionNews that the written scholarship offer arrived last Friday.

More offers should soon arrive as teams evaluate his impressive junior highlight film and watch him in person at next month's Nike Camp.

“I'm going to Penn State on May 14, 15 and 16, the weekend of the Nike Camp,” said Steve who, in addition to the Nike Camp, will participate in Penn State's recruiting weekend. “I’m going Friday, Saturday and Sunday with my mom and my dad.”

Despite an internet report that Slaton was in attendance at PSU's Blue-White game last weekend, Steve says that was not the case.

“I went to the Penn Relays. We ran the 4x100 on Friday and Saturday I jumped in the long jump. I didn’t do so hot. My knee was bothering me because I was jumping the day before and I guess I did too many jumps.”
