Decision Time For Gaither

Jared Gaither.

According to family members, Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy five-star offensive lineman Jared Gaither is torn between three schools. Gaither is a 6-foot-8, 330-pounder who is rated as the nation’s seventh-best offensive lineman by Scout.com.

"Jared is still deciding between Penn State, Florida and Maryland,” said a member of the Gaither family from their home in Maryland. "He is having a hard time with the decision right now."

The family member said there was no timetable for the decision, and that it could come as late as signing day (Wednesday). Though it had been reported that Gaither would visit Virginia Tech this weekend, he did not, opting intstead to relax with his family during an otherwise hectic time.

It is expected by many that Gaither could follow superstar athlete Derrick Williams to Penn State. The two played together at Eleanor Roosevelt High in Greenbelt, Md., before Gaither moved on to the prep school.

Gaither took an official visit to Penn State the weekend of Jan. 21 and spent time with Williams (who enrolled at the university for the spring semester) and Nittany Lion defensive end Matt Rice, another Roosevelt product.

Gaither originally committed to Maryland last year.
