Former Penn State offensive lineman Keith Dorney has been elected to the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame. The announcement was made Wednesday in New York.

An All-American for the Nittany Lions in 1977 and 1978, Dorney was one of 11 players picked for the Hall this year. Two coaches also made the cut. Former Lion running back D.J. Dozier was on the ballot but was not voted in this time.

Dorney began his PSU career as a tight end but became the starting center as a sophomore. He moved to tackle as a junior and starred for two seasons. He was also a standout in the classroom, earning Academic All-America honors in 1978.

Penn State was 38-10 during Dorney's career. He was named National Lineman of the Year by the Columbus Touchdown Club in 1978.

He went on to spend a nine years with the Detroit Lions in the NFL, where he earned Pro-Bowl honors once. He also won the Ed Block Courage Award in 1987.

Dorney is now a special education teacher for True to Life Children's Services in Santa Rosa, Calif. He also coaches the defensive line at a local high school.
