Lion Coaches Head to Mexico
Jay Paterno Penn State

Several members of the Penn State football staff will be traveling to Mexico City this week to teach the fundamentals of "Futbol de Americano."

Making the trip will be quarterbacks coach Jay Paterno, safeties coach Brian Norwood, strength and conditioning coach John Thomas, and graduate assistant Kermitt Buggs.

The Penn State coaches and staff were invited to Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) to speak at a clinic for coaches from across Mexico. The clinic will be held on the UNAM campus from Thursday-Saturday.

Coaches from UNAM have been studying Penn State's football operation as they teach the game of college football in Mexico. For more than 20 years, they have attended Penn State's football camps, used a modification of the Penn State playbook and taught the game using Penn State's methods. Head coach Eduardo Lozada brought another contingent to campus in April.

Penn State's Football Coaches Clinic annually draws more than 700 high school and youth league coaches from all parts of the country, as well as Canada and Mexico, each spring to the University Park campus.
