Scout's No. 1 prospect picks the Seminoles over Nittany Lions and others.

The Penn State football team was practicing when star recruit Myron Rolle made his college choice early Thursday evening. Which was just as well for the Nittany Lion coaching staff, because the New Jersey defensive back picked Florida State over PSU and four other schools.

In a nationally televised press conference from Atlantic City, Rolle said Bobby Bowden's team was for him.

“I'm going to Florida State University,” he said.

Later, Rolle added: “There are a lot of reasons that went into it. I thought Florida State combined academics and athletics the best for me.”

Other schools in Rolle's final six were Oklahoma, Florida, Miami and Michigan.

A source close to the PSU program said Rolle did not alert the Nittany Lion coaching staff in advance of the televised announcement.
