OFFENSE: Good news for the Lions: Passing game clicking heading into the Big Ten portion of the schedule.

DEFENSE: Stiffened even when offense and special teams gave CMU great field position. Also unveiled an intense pass rush just in time for the conference campaign.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Fumbled punt return by Calvin Lowry, bad snap on PAT and Kevin Kelly's missed field goal could have hurt in a tight game.
Grade: D+
COACHING: Aggressive play on offense and defense made a huge difference in this one.

INTANGIBLES: Chippewas seemed intimidated when the Lions turned up the heat.

OTHER GUYS: CMU had its hands full. But props to Kent Smith for being one tough sum-a-gun.
