For the first time this season a player on defense has been honored as the Fight On State Player of the Week. Despite being the only defensive player in the voting, this titan not only made a statement with his play on Saturday, but also made a statement with the fan voting.

With a stunning 22 tackles, (14 solo, 8 assists), junior linebacker and captain Paul Posluszny, he was only two stops shy of the single game record of 24 shared by Greg Buttle and Bill Banks.

His 22 tackles were the fourth highest single game effort in the history of Penn State.

Posluszny was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career for the effort and has now also picked up the Fight On State Player of the Week honor from the Nittany Nation.

He also picked up 41% of the nearly 600 votes cast by Penn State fans. His performance against Northwestern brought his solo tackles on the season to 31, which leads the Big Ten.

Posluszny beat our true freshman wide receiver Derrick Williams, who's first collegiate touchdown catch was the 36 yard game-winner against the Wildcats. Williams ended up with two catches for 42 yards.

The final results were (total votes = 556):

Derrick Williams: 121 / 21.7%
Justin King: 50 / 8.9%
Jordan Norwood: 114 / 20.5%
Michael Robinson: 43 / 7.7%
Paul Posluszny: 228 / 41.0%

The Fight On State Player of the Week award is first and only honor given to a Penn State player by Nittany Lion fans. Vote for your FOS Player of the Week after ever game right here are FightOnState.com.
