Navorro Bowman had offers from some of the nation’s elite college football programs, but chose Penn State over a narrowed-down field that included the Nittany Lions, Virginia Tech, and Ohio State.
Bowman projects as a middle linebacker in college. Last season, he was named Maryland’s Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to winning first-team all-state honors. He also had over 40 scholarship offers.
As Bowman said during his press conference, "Through the evaluation process I grew really close with the coaches and just felt comfortable with Penn State."
He pointed specifically to Larry Johnson as a major factor in his decision, saying, "I like that Coach Johnson has built a good relationship with me and he's said that he plans to be around the next three or four years."
