Bowman Chooses Penn State

Navorro Bowman

Navorro Bowman, a 6-foot-1, 218-pound four-star linebacker prospect from Suitland High in Forestville, Md., announced his commitment to play for Penn State. Bowman, rated by Scout.com as Maryland's No. 4 overall prospect, will enroll at Penn State in January. He is the Nittany Lions' ninth overall prospect and their second commitment from the state of Maryland.

Navorro Bowman had offers from some of the nation's elite college football programs, but chose Penn State over a narrowed-down field that included the Nittany Lions, Virginia Tech, and Ohio State.

Bowman projects as a middle linebacker in college. Last season, he was named Maryland's Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to winning first-team all-state honors. He also had over 40 scholarship offers.

As Bowman said during his press conference, "Through the evaluation process I grew really close with the coaches and just felt comfortable with Penn State."

He pointed specifically to Larry Johnson as a major factor in his decision, saying, "I like that Coach Johnson has built a good relationship with me and he's said that he plans to be around the next three or four years."
