Washington Examiner, citing high school coach, says Maryland star is breaking his verbal commitment to LSU and will instead become a Nittany Lion. But Gbadyu has yet to comment on the story himself.

Bani Gbadyu, the talented linebacker/safety from Quince Orchard High in Gaithersburg, Md., is reversing field, according to a story released by the Washington Examiner on its web site late Tuesday.

The Examiner quotes QR coach Dave Mencarini as saying Gbadyu has dropped his verbal commitment to LSU and that he will instead announce for Penn State.

“Bani went to LSU. He saw them beat Florida and he loved it there,” Mencarini told the paper. “But he had nothing to compare it to. So he went to Penn State [in November] and realized it was the best place for him. It’s tough. How do you tell a 17-year-old kid to decide?”

The Examiner story said Gbadyu told his teammates of the decision at the team banquet Sunday night.
