Posluszny's injury was sustained when he attempted to leap over Florida State's Lorenzo Booker. Booker's helmet hit his right knee causing partial tears of his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and his medial collateral ligament (MCL), according to Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli, Penn State's Director of Athletic Medicine.
The injuries will not require the 2005 Butkus and Bendarik Award winner to get surgery and rehabilitation is expected to take 6 to 8 weeks, according to Sebastianelli.
Posluszny discussed his injury, saying, "I'm obviously glad the injury wasn't serious and won't require surgery. We have a great training and medical staff and they have a plan outlined for my rehab. I'm anxious to get started and get ready for the upcoming year."
