New Jersey prospect becomes the 20th member of Penn State's Class of 2006. Troutman committed Sunday after talking to Penn State head coach Joe Paterno and assistant Ron Vanderlinden on the phone.

Troutman said location was a big part of his decision. He was also considering Ohio State.

"It was just closer," he said of PSU's University Park campus.

Troutman is a product of Pembertown Township High in Pemberton, N.J. He made an official visit to Penn State Dec. 12, checked out Maryland Jan. 13 and Ohio State Jan. 6.

After visiting Maryland, he said Ohio State and Penn State were he co-leaders.

Where will he play for the Lions?

"I'm pretty sure I'm going to be a defensive end," he reported.
