The Nittany Lions continue to bolster the depth of the kicking position, first with walk-on State College native Collin Wagner and now with another walk-on transfer from Clemson. They join the two kickers who were already on the roster.

Ryan "Big Red" Redler, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound kicker from Fairfield, Conn., transferred from Clemson after his initial semester and is currently trying out for the Nittany Lion squad. Over the past week he has been taking kicks for the Penn State program.

Redler was a 2004 All-FCIAC first team selection. During his high school career he hit 50 of 56 PATs, an 89 percent success rate. He also made four of seven field goals (57 percent) ranging in distance from 26 to 37 yards. Over the course of his high school career he also had 25 touchbacks.

Observers said Redler "looked good" in his workouts for the coaches and he is expected to continue working out for the staff this week. If he makes the team Redler, would join a deep kicking unit for Penn State, which includes Kevin Kelly, Matt Waldron and fellow walk-on Collin Wagner.
