Carolina Standout Picks PSU
Kevion Latham

Posted Jul 12, 2006

With a limited number of scholarships to offer this year, Penn State is focusing on athletes who can fit into the program at any number of positions. The Nittany Lions' latest commitment, 6-foot-3, 234-pound Kevion Latham, is the perfect example.

Projected as a defensive end or outside linebacker in college, Kevion Latham has played both positions at Page High in Greensboro, N.C., the last two years. He had 12.5 sacks, 83 tackles and two fumble recoveries as a junior.

According to a source close to the Penn State football program, he committed to the Nittany Lions Tuesday.

Latham picked Penn State over a host of schools that offered, including North Carolina, Stanford, Oregon, California and Georgia Tech.

Latham is the eighth player to commit to Penn State's Class of 2007.

We will have more on this story as soon as more news becomes available.
