Quarless Grabs FOS POG Honor vs. MSU

The Nittany Lions closed out their 2006 season with a victory over the Spartans, sending the seniors out with a win, but it was a true freshman who stole the show for PSU fans. Andrew Quarless' performance earned him his first ever fan honor over the likes of seniors Paul Posluszny, Tim Shaw and Tony Hunt.

With four catches for 87 yards and one touchdown, the true freshman had his best game of the season against Michigan State. Listen to him talk about the performance against the Spartans.

Quarless ended the season with 20 catches for 286 and a touchdown. His season performance was the best for a tight end since Matt Kranchick caught 22 passes for 337 yards and a touchdown in 2003.

Here are how the voting results broke down:

Tony Hunt: 9.8%
Paul Posluszny: 20.1%
Andrew Quarless: 58.2%
Anthony Scirrotto: 6.9%
Tim Shaw: 5.0%

As an aside several fans wrote in Nolan McCready as their Player of the Game selection stating his performance earned him a spot as candidate for the honor. We extend our apologies to Nolan for the oversight.

Here are how the voting results have shaken out through the first eleven games this season:
