Penn State has landed its first commitment for the Class of 2008. According to multiple sources, offensive lineman Matt Stankiewitch pledged to the Lions while on a visit to campus this weekend.

Matt Stankiewitch is a 6-foot-4, 290-pound guard from Blue Mountain High in Schuylkill Haven, Pa. He picked the Nittany Lions over Pitt and West Virginia.

Following his junior season, he was named second team class AAA All-State by the Associated Press.

Stankiewitch was still on campus at the time of this writing. He is on an unofficial visit, and has spent the weekend checking out campus and watching parts of the Coaches Clinic, including Saturday's scrimmage.
