Penn State secured its fifth commitment for the Class of 2008 Sunday when Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney's Brandon Beachum announced for the Nittany Lions. Beachum released the news at a press conference in his hometown.

A 6-foot, 220-pounder, Brandon Beachum also held written offers from Florida State, LSU, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Many schools were recruiting him as a linebacker, but he figures to play running back for the Nittany Lions.

Beachum's Cardinal Mooney teammate, linebacker Michael Zordich, had previously committed to Penn State.
