Scirrotto Strikes a Deal

Penn State safety pleads guilty to a misdemeanor charge of defiant trespass to put apartment fight behind him. UPDATED TO INCLUDE AUDIO.

Pat Boland of WMAJ ESPN Radio 1450 just reported to FightOnState.com that Penn State safety Anthony Scirrotto has made a plea aggrement with the Centre County district attorney's office. The deal was made today at the Centre County Courthouse.

Under the terms of the deal, which was approved by Judge Brad Lunsford, Scirrotto agreed to plead guilty to a charge of misdemeanor defiant trespass in connection with an apartment fight in downtown State College last April.

He will serve one year of probation, pay a $500 fine and perform a small amount of community service.

Scirrotto initially faced multiple felony charges in connection to the well-publicized incident. But all by one — for criminal trespass — were eventually thrown out.

Under the terms of this deal, the felony charge of criminal trespass was reduced to a misdemeanor of charge of defiant trespass.

Scirrotto is a two-year starter at free safety for the Nittany Lions. He led the team with three interceptions in 2007.
