Ties TD Record

A synopsis of how the high school seniors who have already verbally accepted a scholarship offer to play football at Penn State performed this past weekend.

Jason Evans:

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jason sprained his left ankle on the fourth play of the game and sat out the second half.  In limited action, Evans carried the ball 10 times for 35 yards.  Harrison (12-0) defeated Chattahoochee (6-6) by a score of 38-6.

Jason is expected to be ready for next week's AAAAA playoff quarterfinal matchup with East Coweta (7-5).

Paul Posluszny:

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Paul rushed for 121 yards on 32 carries (3.8 yards per carry), including a 7-yard touchdown run, helping Hopewell (13-1) defeat City League champion Perry (13-1), who had not given up a point in their previous 13 games, by a score of 20-3.

The Vikings advance to play Strath Haven Friday night at Hersheypark Stadium in the AAA PIAA title game.

Austin Scott:

According to the The Morning Call, Austin ran for 279 yards on 23 carries (12.1 yards per carry) and scored 2 touchdowns as Parkland (13-1) defeated North Penn (10-3) by a score of 33-13.

Austin touchdown runs were 53 and 18 yards respectively.

Scott increased Pennsylvania's single-season rushing record to 3,608 yards. Austin also has 48 touchdowns on the season, tying the state record which was set in 1991 by Schuylkill Haven's Jason Killian.

The Trojans will play Woodland Hills (13-0) in the AAAA state championship this Saturday at 5:00 PM in Hersheypark Stadium.

John Shaw:

Spring Grove (9-2) was eliminated from the playoffs three weeks ago.  However, John played in the "War of the Roses" All-Star game on Thanksgiving Day, a game which features York County verses Lancaster County.  Lancaster won the contest 31-14.  The York Daily Record has the game story.

"It was real fun," John said.  "I played offensive tackle for three quarters and then they put me in at nose tackle towards the end of the game.  I did really well.  I had like 2 tackles in the backfield.  I had a quarterback hurry and about 5 tackles overall.  I had a blocked punt and almost blocked another one.

"I didn't ask why they were playing me at offensive tackle, I just played."

John is currently scheduled to take his official visit to Penn State during the second weekend in January.

He is putting together a highlight tape as requested by the Big33 with hopes of being selected to play in the game this summer.

He attended every Penn State home game this year.

"The last one was awesome, 61-7 and seeing history be made by Larry Johnson."

He's currently playing center for the Spring Grove basketball team.

"Coach Kenney is coming this Thursday to watch me practice and next Monday we have a home game and Coach Johnson and Coach Kenney are both going to come watch."
