Penn State defensive end Aaron Maybin is a finalist for the Bednarik Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top defensive player.
The redshirt sophomore has had a breakout season for the Nittany Lions, with 45 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles and three batted passes.
Maybin leads the Big Ten in sacks and is tied for fourth in the nation in sacks per game.
The other finalists for the Bednarik Award are James Laurinaitis of Ohio State and Ray Maualunga of USC.
The winner will be announced during ESPN's Awards Show in Orlando Dec. 11.
