With Rose Bowl looming, brief demotion ends quickly for a trio of talented Penn State starters.

CARSON, Calif. — Penn State starters A.Q. Shipley, Rich Ohrnberger and Aaron Maybin were all back in blue Monday.

The trio of starters had been knocked down to the second team for the Nittany Lions' previous two practices. Sources say Shipley and Ohrnberger, a pair of outstanding offensive linemen, were punished for being late for a team breakfast. Maybin, an All-American defensive end, was reportedly knocked down a peg for missing a team even at Disneyland.

When the two offensive linemen were temporarily demoted, they had to turn in their light blue first-team practice jerseys for green second-team jerseys.

Maybin, meanwhile, traded in his first-team dark blue jersey for a second-team red jersey.

But all three were back in their normal practice gear Monday.

The first 15 minutes of Monday's practice on a grass field at the Home Depot Center complex was open to the media. As Shipley came on the field, he smiled at an FOS reporter and said, “Different color jersey today.”

Ohrnberger laughed and shrugged as he walked by.
