Lions Land Carolina Forward

To the surprise of nobody, Borovnjak picks Penn State over College of Charleston.

Penn State may be mired in a season-worst three-game losing streak. But the Nittany Lions' fortunes took a turn for the better Thursday, when North Carolina forward Sasa Borovnjak gave Coach Ed DeChellis a verbal commitment.

A 6-foot-9, 230-pounder with polished scoring skills, Borovnjak announced the commitment during press conference at his high school, Verita Christian Academy in Fletcher, N.C.

Borovnjak visited Penn State over the weekend and seemed intent on committing when FOS interviewed him earlier this week (see it here). He said his other offer was from College of Charleston, and that he wanted to think about things for a day or two before announcing his decision.

He is the third member of DeChellis' incoming freshman class for the 2009-2010 season, joining early signees Tim Frazier (a guard) and Jermaine Marshall (a small forward).

For the time being, it appears PSU had wrapped up it recruiting of the current crop of high school seniors.
