Averaging nearly 50 yards per punt, Jeremy Boone forced Illinois to start inside their 5-yard line on two occasions last Saturday, helping Penn State to get their first road win of the 2009 season.
The senior punter hit four punts for 198 yards, an average of 49.5 yards per attempt, including a long of 66 yards.
Boone has been a consistent weapon for the Lions, with a big leg that is able to get PSU out of some field position jams. His Illinois performance helped Penn State to win some key battles in this aspect of the game and eventually aided them in a 35-17 victory over the Illini.
This is the first Big Ten POW honor of Boone's career.
