SHORT REPORT: Lee Status Update

Sean Lee

Get the latest exclusive update on the likelihood of senior linebacker Sean Lee playing Saturday against Minnesota right here.

By all accounts out of practice Sean Lee "looks great." As one observer said, "He looks comfortable at full speed in drills and does not appear to have any hold-ups with the knee. He's been cutting on it and looking fine, which is a key indicator they look at."

The coaches held back on contact this week and only allowed him to engage in limited hitting drills. As another observer said, "I think he is ready to go."

However, given the weather forecast, some observers have indicated that the medical staff seems to be very cautious to clear Lee for Saturday's Minnesota clash.

"It depends on the conditions, but if [the field is] wet, the footing could be ugly. But more importantly is the cold," an observer explained. "When it's cold things (i.e. muscles and joints) tend to tighten up and the chance of injury is that much greater."

So, it will be interesting to see, but observers seem to feel that Lee, who was just announced as a Butkus Award semi-finalist, takes the field. However, most observers FOS spoke with believe that caution will win over the staff.

"You have to remember, there are other big games coming up - PSU is on the road next week in Ann Arbor - so if he is held out, he'll have a chance to make a big impact soon enough. I really hope they trot him out there, even for just a play to get the crowd excited."
