PLAYBOOK HD: Moye Short Game

Moye gets a block from Andrew Quarless.

See how the Nittany Lion offense was taking what the Wolverine defense was giving early in Saturday's game.

Penn State redshirt sophomore wideout Derek Moye exploded for six catches for 120 yards and a touchdown against Minnesota at Beaver Stadium Oct. 17.

You think the Michigan coaching staff was paying attention?

When the Nittany Lions squared off with the Wolverines at Michigan Stadium Saturday, Michigan clearly was not about to let Moye get loose deep. Moye was held to six catches for 53 yards and no scores in the Big House, as the Wolverine corners played 10 or more yards off him much of the time.

The PSU coaching staff and quarterback Daryll Clark noticed this early, and exploited Michigan's tactic but taking what they were being given -- valuable yardage underneath. In fact, on back-to-back plays in the first quarter, the Lions used quick-hitters to Moye to loosen up the Wolverine defense.
