EVANSTON, Ill. — Penn State exploded in the fourth quarter of a game against Northwestern here Saturday. In the span of a few minutes, a tight contest became a 34-13 blowout.

The Nittany Lions improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the Big Ten with the victory, keeping alive their hopes of a second-straight conference title.
