MSU: Lions Blow Out Spartans 42-14

After a slow start Penn State had a 28-point third quarter to blow out the Spartans in East Lansing. Daryll Clark had a career game with four touchdown passes. Get a review of the game here.

FIRST QUARTER

The Lions and Spartans traded the ball back and forth a few times with solid defensive play and some conservative offensive approaches.

After an ill-advised first down celebration by MSU's QB, the PSU defense seemed to ignite, forcing a punt on third and 23, despite a pathetic running into the kicker call.

SECOND QUARTER

Both teams continued to trade the ball back and forth. Penn State finally set up a 38-yard field goal, but Wagner missed wide right.

Finally, with 2:10 left in the half, PSU breaks in the scoreboard with a 29-yard touchdown strike to Quarless.

However, the Spartans decide to get into the scoring and march 87 yards in 1:25 to tie up the game.

THIRD QUARTER

On the opening drive Penn State got a big kickoff return to the PSU 45 from Green. On the ensuing drive the Lions marched 55 yards on three plays with help from a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty to score on a 14-yard halfback toss from Drake to Quarless.

After trading the ball a few times, PSU managed another scoring drive on the legs of Royster who broke the 100-yard mark. The touchdown was a 30-yard pass from Clark to Suhey.

On MSU's next drive Cousin's tosses am interception to Sukay. On the first offensive play Clark hits Zug on a 32-yard touchdown strike.

Penn State 28, Michigan State 7

On the next MSU drive, Lee grabbed a second consecutive interception for PSU. Penn State used the opportunity to blow open the game as Clark hit Zug on the move.

FOURTH QUARTER

After a few traded drives, Newsome stepped in and helped to drive PSU down the field for a touchdown to officially make it a blowout.

With Penn State's defensive backups in Michigan State manages to avoid a second half shutout, scoring on a deep pass.
