Penn State Out For Easley

Dominque Easley

The New Jersey defensive end told FOS that he will choose between two other schools now. He had previously committed to the Lions. See why he is headed elsewhere.

ORLANDO -- Had he followed through on his commitment to Penn State, chances are Dominque Easley was not going to be a geography major.

After announcing for the Nittany Lions in September, the Scout.com four-star prospect began wavering in the last month or so. Now he has made it official: his commitment to PSU had been taken back and the Lions are out of the picture for his services.

“I de-committed from Penn State last night,” he told us after the Under Armour All-America Game practice here Thursday. “I'm just choosing between Oregon and Miami.”

The reason for the de-commitment?

“I want to get away,” the New Jersey native reported. “I want to get off the East Coast.”

That would not seem to bode well for Miami, which at last check was stationed on the East Coast.

Easley broke the news to PSU assistant Kermit Buggs, who is also I Orlando as the Nittany Lions prepare to face LSU in the Capital One Bowl.

“He was disappointed but he understood,” Easley said.

Easley will make his decision known during the UA Game Saturday, but it is widely believed he is going to the non-East Coast program remaining on his list -- Oregon.
