St. Peter’s Prep five-star running back Savon Huggins has officially announced his top 10 list through Scout.com. One of the most highly sought after recruits in the Class of 2011, Huggins had announced three weeks ago that he was going to whittle down his several dozen offers to 10 programs he would consider for an official visit.
Huggins had said three weeks ago that he knew for sure that “only Rutgers” would make the list and he had an idea about three or four others. After taking recent unofficial visits to Wisconsin and Notre Dame, the New Jersey prospect finally feels ready to announce his top 10.
The top 10 list for Huggins is: Rutgers, Pitt, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Florida, Penn State, Stanford, Georgia, Wisconsin and Miami. The Hurricanes were the last program to make the list.
"I am honored to announce a top 10 list of schools as I get ready to head into the fall season," Huggins told Scout.com. "It is a great privilege to have so many top programs show interest in me and I appreciate the time and effort coaches have spent getting to know me and letting me get to know them."
Currently, Huggins holds more than 60 scholarship offers from programs with his first one coming in-state from Rutgers after his freshman season at St. Peter’s Prep. He is an honor roll student at the school. Wednesday, Pitt entertained him and showed him the media push the program has set for a Deion Lewis Heisman campaign.
While no time table for a decision has been set, Huggins has recently said that he will likely make a decision live on ESPN at the Under Armour All-American Bowl in January.
