PRO CAREER: Came to Chicago in 2007 offseason after collecting 155 tackles including 6 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in 58 games played, with 34 starts, in 4 previous seasons with the 49ers… His 4.5 sacks over the last 2 seasons were tied for 3rd-most on the San Francisco roster during that time… Has played in at least 14 games in each of the first 4 seasons of his career… Has played multiple positions along the defensive line during career, spending most of his time at LDT… Versatile athlete who has also seen action as a blocking fullback in short yard situations.
CAREER TRANSACTIONS: Entered NFL as a second-round selection (57th overall) by San Francisco in the 2003 NFL Draft… Signed by 49ers (7/25/03)… Signed 4-year contract with Chicago (3/30/07)… SIGNED through 2010
PERSONAL NOTES: Born Anthony Adams, Jr. in Detroit, MI… Prepped at Martin Luther King (Detroit, MI) Hugh School, where he was named USA Today honorable mention All-American… Three-year letterman who helped lead his team to runner-up honors in the city championship game all 3 years… Team captain and MVP as a senior… Also lettered in shot put for the track team… Worked toward earning degree from Penn State during the 2003 and 2004 off-seasons, graduating in May of 2004… During Super Bowl XL in his hometown of Detroit, Adams took part in the Read Across America Program and gave a pair of Super Bowl tickets and an autographed jersey to the top two students of Youth Ville, an after-school program for inner city kids, who had the most improved report cards… Wife is Andenika.
