| CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: With 26 career starts in Beaver Stadium (for the Blue Band), Harrington's biggest asset is his ability to type (which is nothing to brag about). His build is similar to that of Jordan Norwood. His game is very much like Norwood's, as well, except for the fact that he is not as fast, does not jump as high, has bad hands, does not read defenses well and — on orders from his wife — is not allowed to go across the middle.
Despite competing in basketball, cross country and tennis at Londonderry (N.H.) High, some feel his greatest potential is in football. Others think those individuals are clearly drunk, deranged or both. He ran an electronically-timed 7.52 40-yard dash while with the Blue Band, although he said the fact that he was carrying a drum, wearing polyester and using the high-step technique "minimized his burst."
ANALYSIS: Lack of athletic ability equaled only by lack of intelligence, but this prospect has outstanding networking skills and heart. ... As Scout.com's Bob Lichtenfels said, "I watched him for 30 seconds and realized I was wasting my time. Pitt would never mess with a prospect like this. But he'll make Penn State a heck of a tackling dummy." ... On his most recent appearance on Best Damn Sports Show Period, Jamie Newberg noted that Harrington has an uncanny resemblance to Boston Red Sox GM Theo Epstein, but does not dress as well. ... When asked for his opinion on Harrington, Scout.com's Allen Wallace said, "Would you people PLEASE stop calling me?"
QUOTE: "I am looking to continue the great tradition of No. 3 for Penn State. It's a number a lot of fans overlook, but I'd put it up there with No. 31 and No. 32. I mean, look at the guys who have worn it: Jay Paterno, Chip LaBarca and Ron Graham. Great things happen in threes."
PERSONAL: Nickname is "Trey," after his favorite uniform number. ... Also known as PlaybookMark. ... Smarmy attitude has been known to infuriate business rivals. |
