| As a junior, Gonzalez led Liberty to a PIAA Class AAAA state championship. He was named the Associated Press Class AAAA Player of the Year. He also earned All-State honors.
Gonzalez completed 114 of 206 passes for 1,580 yards and 12 touchdowns against just five interceptions and ran 264 times for 1,697 yards and 24 TDs.
